Loyal boss – chaos in the team?

Since 2022, I have been loyally leading the young editorial team of FitStars Media, making it stronger and bigger. Before that, I spent almost 5 years working in a corporation with a ruthless management model. And I sincerely believed that you can’t be a boss and not be tough…

I have been writing texts since 2020, working with clients one-on-one, while also hiring. In 2022, I interviewed at FitStars for the position of copywriter . Before growing to the editor-in-chief, I “cooked” in the skin of a copywriter for 10 months and often participated in conference calls. I already felt the management model and was surprised to see that there was no toughness in the company. Meanwhile, I worked for almost 5 years in a structure with tough management at the helm. I understood that if I wanted to move up in my career, I needed to become ruthless, demanding, and be able to extinguish the pressure of disagreement from subordinates. But this is not my story. So I quit my job and finally left for FitStars.

Voice of the People: What Authors Like About FitStars Media Editorial

I got to the editorial office as if to another world. Everyone who was already there was interested people who wanted to work without being kicked. I had to increase the staff and find the same ideological people. There is no need for buy bulk sms service cruelty if the company and the team are adequate and responsible people. If you assembled the team yourself, and something goes wrong, the responsibility is on you and your choice.

We are not in a world of pink ponies, everything has its nuances and downsides. Here are my observations about loyal management that I want to share. And the solutions that I do with it.

People can break agreements and perceive trust as weakness of character.

An underwater fat boulder that I always remember. This moment must be caught quickly, the person must be brought into conversation, the reasons php tutorial: getting started  must be clarified and the boundaries must be set. Perhaps everything is simpler: the person’s reference points have changed, and it is easier for him to work, at least somehow. If once is an accident, twice is definitely a pattern.

Loyalty ≠ chaosEach team member should have their own responsibilities, deadlines and limits of capabilities. If he deliberately lies, treats work negligently, loyalty should be replaced by a reasoned strong-willed decision. We have our own history with punishments.

Are sanctions necessary?

There are no sanctions at all in the FitStars editorial office. One day, an author of articles came to me and said: “Olesya, I don’t have time to submit the material, I understand that I am letting you and the layout department down. If you think it’s necessary, withhold some money from my salary. Let this be my punishment .” Frankly, I almost slid down the wall in surprise. In my picture of the world, there is no situation for which I would withhold money. But everyone decides for themselves.

To ensure the material was fair, I asked two authors betting data to share their opinions on what they like about the editorial staff.

“A comfortable atmosphere. Friendliness, no hidden agendas or undermining. Security. As an example, understanding that even if you can’t complete the work on time, you will be understood,” – Tatyana M.

“I know that if I find it difficult to do something, I can always come and say so. We will definitely find a solution. As my manager, you are always in touch, there are no “sins” for mistakes, and the atmosphere is friendly, without any behind-the-scenes mouse-squabbling. Also, phone calls bring us closer, because we see and hear each other,” – Olga G.

Loyal leaders also part ways

But we are not saints, and there were authors with whom we parted ways. When you work in a small team, you expect that the person will be just as open and interested. Sometimes everything goes wrong. If it seems so to you, then it does not seem so to you. In this case, I admit to myself: this is a mistake of my choice or insurmountable circumstances, to which I have nothing to do. In any case, I honestly and reasonably tell the author why we are parting ways.
